When my best-friend-since-forever came to visit me a few weeks ago, we were strolling around the Upper West Side and stumbled upon Robert Indiana’s iconic “LOVE.” I’ve always seen people posting pictures of this sculpture, and there are replica installations throughout the U.S. and abroad, but I had never actually seen one in person. The pop of color was lovely during the dreary transition between winter and spring, and it was a sweet reminder of Valentine’s Day, which was not so long ago.
One of my favorite things about living in New York is the presence of art. There are hundreds of galleries and museums, but there is also creative inspiration hidden throughout the city–everywhere from sculptures like this to graffiti in the subway tunnels. It’s refreshing to be able to walk down almost any street and see something colorful and unique, and it’s impossible not to get inspired.
